Island Time Rentals - Vehicle Rental Agreement

1. Rental Eligibility Requirements

Driver must be 25 years or older, possess a valid driver's license, provide credit card in renter's name, and provide proof of auto insurance valid in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drivers aged 25-29 may rent with a $20/day young driver fee. All drivers must be listed on the agreement. Unauthorized drivers void all protection.

2. Payment Structure

Reservation Deposit: Required to secure booking. Applied to rental balance. Non-refundable within 48 hours of reservation date.

Security Authorization Hold: Placed at pickup based on protection level selected ($1,500 without protection, $1,000 with Standard, $500 with Premium/Ultimate). Released within 3-7 business days after vehicle return.

3. Included Insurance Coverage

All rentals include minimum third-party liability insurance required by Virgin Islands law ($10,000 bodily injury per person, $25,000 bodily injury per accident, $10,000 property damage). This coverage is secondary to renter's personal insurance.

4. Prohibited Vehicle Use

Vehicle may NOT be used: off-road, on beaches or sand, in saltwater, for towing, for racing, for ride-sharing services, for illegal activity, or outside St. Thomas without written approval. Violation voids all protection.

5. Damage and Cleaning Fees

• Smoking in vehicle: $500
• Wet seats / saltwater: $350
• Excess sand cleaning: $250
• Lost key: $400
• Tire replacement: $350
• Wheel damage: $450

6. Fuel Policy

Vehicle must be returned with same fuel level. Otherwise, refueling charge = $8 per gallon.

7. Late Return

Grace period: 30 minutes. After: 1-3 hours late = $50 fee; 3+ hours = full additional rental day.

8. Accident Procedure

Renter must: Call 911 immediately, notify Island Time Rentals, obtain police report, provide photos of damage. Failure to report accident voids all protection.

9. Liability and Indemnification

Renter agrees to indemnify Island Time Rentals against all claims, pay all damages not covered by protection packages, and pay for vehicle recovery and towing if misuse occurs.

10. Loss of Use

If vehicle is damaged and unavailable for rent, renter is responsible for daily lost rental revenue ($120/day for Sahara, $145/day for Rubicon). Maximum liability: 30 days. Waived under Premium or Ultimate protection.

11. Administrative Fees

If damage occurs: Claim processing ($250), Estimate processing ($75), Insurance paperwork ($100).

12. Maximum Liability

Without waiver protection, renter may be liable up to full vehicle value (Sahara: ~$48,000, Rubicon: ~$58,000).

13. Charge Authorization

Renter authorizes Island Time Rentals to charge their payment method for: damage costs, lost rental revenue, cleaning fees, administrative processing fees, towing and recovery, and traffic violations.

14. Jurisdiction

All disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the United States Virgin Islands.
